Past Books
I wrote this book to make teaching a particular course easier. The course targeted oceanography graduate students who were not biologists. The book uses simple equations and a focus on the intersection of biological oceanographic processes with issues in the non-biological specialties of marine sciences to generate and maintain that audience's interest.
I wrote this book to collect in one place materials that I found useful in introducing dynamics of viscous fluids to undergraduate marine sciences majors. This introduction takes advantage of the fact that the mathematics of viscous flows are simpler than those for turbulent ones. For introducing effects of flows at higher Reynolds numbers, I relied on Steve Vogel's unsurpassed introduction.
